Chris Brunt was delighted to score his first goal from open play in 11 months in the 2-0 win over Wolves.
The Northern Ireland international notched West Brom's opener on eight minutes before substitute Peter Odemwingie added a second with 15 minutes remaining.
The victory lifted the Baggies out of the drop zone and Brunt hopes Roy Hodgson's side can now push on up the league.
Agreeing it was a deserved victory for the Baggies, Brunt told Sky Sports: "I think so, I think we played pretty well.
"We sort of rode the storm early on when they had a few set-pieces but overall we defended well, and actually took a couple of chances, we created quite a few today.
"So it's good to build on the draw we got at Sunderland so hopefully we can kick on from here."
Regarding netting his first goal from open play since last November, he added: "I was delighted to see it go in and as you say it's been a long time since I've scored from open play.
"Obviously in a derby game it's special."
