Inter Milan striker Diego Forlan will be assessed in Milan in the coming days to ascertain the extent of his muscle injury.
The 32-year-old marksman sustained the injury in Tuesday's World Cup qualifying draw with Paraguay, a game that ended 1-1.
Forlan scored for his country in the clash, a strike that elevated him to Uruguay's highest-ever scorer with 32 goals to his name.
However, his evening was hit by injury and he will now be assessed amid fears he could be out of action for two weeks.
"I don't know what it is," explained Forlan. "I felt a pain and I couldn't continue.
"We must wait. I'll fly to Milan to undergo the necessary medical checks."
