Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson wants Ross Draper to continue his recent goalscoring form in the absence of striker George Donnelly.

The pair have netted in back-to-back league games for the Silkmen but Donnelly's current loan has expired and, despite agreeing a new deal, he will not be available again until November.

While Simpson hopes to acquire a striker before their next match against Oxford, he thinks Draper can continue to weigh in with goals from midfield.

He told the Manchester Evening News: "George has got two in two, although he can't play now for three weeks, so too has Ross, and Ben Tomlinson's got five so we're starting to share them about.

"That's Ross to a tee, he can get you a goal. He's one of our talismen, he can lift people and get you through. Saturday wasn't one of his better games but he's chipped in with a great goal.

"We need goals from every department and to be fair to him, he's doing his bit. Hopefully we can continue to make chances and he can get a few more."
