Pulis stresses the importance of consistency

Stoke City's Matthew Etherington has taken a sugar injection in a bid to recapture his best form as he continues to struggle with back problems. The winger missed City's 2-0 defeat at Swansea in the last game before the international break and has since undergone treatment with manager Tony Pulis desperate for consistency within his side. Etherington made 30 Premier League appearances last season, netting five goals for the Potters, but is yet to get off the mark in this campaign. Pulis told The Sentinel: "He's had the injection in his back and we are hoping he's okay for the Fulham game on Saturday. "He's been a bit stiff around the hamstring area, but it's been more back related. We're hoping these injections will settle him down and get him up and running again. "We are waiting for Matty and Jermaine Pennant to hit top gear. Getting that consistency is so important to us."
