Bayer Leverkusen coach Robin Dutt has revealed that midfielder Renato Augusto will be out of action for until the New Year.

Midfielder to undergo surgery in Brazil

Bayer Leverkusen coach Robin Dutt has revealed that midfielder Renato Augusto will be out of action for until the New Year. The 23-year-old is on his way back to Brazil to have a surgery performed on his knee by the Brazil national team doctor Jose Luiz Runco and will be sidelined from all football activities for the rest of the year. Dutt laments the injuries Bayer have been dealt in the early stages of the season, but is hopeful of having Augusto recover his full fitness after his operation. "We are actually struggling with injuries," Dutt told Bild. "Renato Augusto was one of the players who have been hit lately. "As far as I am concerned, he will not be back in action before the New Year and I am fully appreciative he is keen to have his surgery done in Brazil. "Renato will stay on there for two more weeks to wait on the progress of the surgery. Afterwards, he will be back at our club to undergo rehab training." Bayer are currently ninth in the Bundesliga table with 13 points from eight matches, six points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
