Chris Iwelumo is ready to grab the spotlight and play a leading role in Watford's season after recovering from injury.
The striker was signed by the Hornets this summer to add his experience to their squad.
Iwelumo, a former Scotland international, started the season short of optimum fitness, which led to him picking up another injury that forced him onto the sidelines.
Since regaining his peak level, the 33-year-old, has found his chances to claim a first-team place limited but he is prepared to be patient to wait for his turn.
"I took a step back and now I'm feeling fit now, I'm training well," Iwelumo told the club's official website.
"I got a few reserve games under my belt and now I'm coming on and getting some minutes.
"It's a long season, we are 10 games in and there are plenty of games to go. Hopefully I'll get my chance; I'll take it and make the impact I set out to do at the start of the season."
Iwelumo has enjoyed three promotions throughout his career and he is keen to play a central role for the Hertfordshire team.
"I'm desperate to play my part, as I said it's a long season but I really want to get going now," he added.
