Grant hails Cuellar

Villa assistant pleased with player's attitude

Carlos Cuellar: Is set to play his first 90 minutes for seven months as he recovers from knee surgery

Assistant Aston Villa boss Peter Grant has revealed Carlos Cuellar has been 'fantastic' during his recovery from a knee injury.

The Spaniard has not played for the first team since April but made his comeback with 45 minutes for the reserves against Chelsea last week.

The former Rangers man is hoping to continue his rehabilitation with a full 90 minutes for Villa's second string against Wolves on Tuesday.

Grant is delighted to see the player back playing again and has praised his attitude throughout his battle to regain fitness.

"We are obviously delighted that Carlos is back and available," Grant told the club's official website.

"He had been training really hard and there is nothing worse than when you've been training yourself than not having a reserve game to play in when you feel the time is right.

"He has put a lot of work into his rehabilitation with the physios and the doctor.

"It is easy putting that in but you need to have someone who is responsive to it and he has been fantastic."
