Scotland will be without captain Darren Fletcher for Saturday's Euro 2012 qualifier against Liechtenstein through illness.
The 27-year-old, who has 55 caps for his country, has yet to join up with the rest of the squad after being struck down with tonsillitis.
Fletcher is a key component in manager Craig Levein's side having scored in their recent 2-2 qualifying draw with Czech Republic.
Levein will now be without the Manchester United man for their crucial weekend clash with Liechtenstein.
However, Fletcher is still in contention to face World and European champions Spain in their final Group I game on Tuesday.
A statement from the SFA confirmed: "Darren Fletcher will not travel to
Liechtenstein due to tonsillitis but remains in contention for Spain and his
progress will continue to be assessed by medical staff."
