Boss slams Wycombe for cup exit

Wycombe boss Gary Waddock was in no mood to pull any punches after his side lost 3-1 to Cheltenham in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

On paper Waddock's League One side were expected to progress, but a double from Darryl Duffy, plus an effort from Brian Smikle, did the damage. Kevin Betsy was on the scoresheet for the home side but boss Waddock was unimpressed with their efforts. "You can't defend like that," he said. "The scoreline, to be fair, could have been more than it was but we didn't deserve anything especially when you defend that way, you're going to concede goals. "I've said quite a bit to the players, but that will remain in the dressing room, it can't continue but the players know my feelings. "There was opportunities given but how many took that opportunity? The run we're on is a poor run, you can't hide behind that fact."
