Defender calls on Latics to regroup for Bolton showdown

Wigan defender Emmerson Boyce believes the international break has come at a good time for the club. The Latics slumped to their fifth successive defeat in all competitions after going down 2-0 to Aston Villa on Saturday. Next up for Wigan after the two-week international break is a home clash with fellow strugglers Bolton and Boyce is happy with the timing of the break as it gives them time to regroup. "Performance-wise we have to do better, we need to work harder and we need to make teams work harder to score their goals," Boyce told the Wigan Evening Post.

Refresh

"We've got an international break and we need to pick ourselves up ahead of Bolton in a fortnight. The international break has probably come at a good time for us - it gives us a chance to get away, refresh ourselves and hopefully come back stronger. "We feel we're a better team than results have been showing but at the end of the day the results are all that matters. We just need to find a way of grinding out a few results because we don't want it to go down to the last game of the season like last year. We'll go into the Bolton game full of confidence and it's a game we have to pick up something from."
