West Bromwich Albion are looking to finalise a deal for Dundee United starlet Scott Allan, skysports.com understands.
The 19-year-old is currently out of favour at Tannadice after his decision to shun a new contract with United.
Manchester United, Newcastle and Old Firm giants Celtic and Rangers are all keen on the talented midfielder, who only made his SPL debut this term.
The Scotland Under 21 international is out of contract at the end of the season and, should he depart for England at that point, the club would only be due minimal compensation.
With that in mind, it is now believed West Brom have entered the bidding and have tried to conclude a quick deal.
Skysports.com understands that they lodged a bid with Dundee United last week, which this was rejected, although their interest remains.
Allan could not move to West Brom until January, but the Baggies are aware of the interest and want to try and snatch his signature now.
United remain hopeful that they can persuade him to stay put and continue his education on Tayside, but that looks to be an increasingly tough task.
