Dagenham and Redbridge have snapped up Queens Park Rangers striker Troy Hewitt on a month-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old, who was not included in Neil Warnock's 25-man Premier League squad, has so far made a single substitute appearance for the R's which came in this season's Carling Cup defeat to Rochdale.

Hewitt only signed for QPR in March after his exploits for non-league Harrow Borough, where he scored 20 goals last season.

Daggers manager John Still told the club's official website: "He's a young boy who we looked at when he was at Harrow Borough, he went to QPR but we've kept our eye on the situation.

"He's a local boy, which helps, and comes from Ilford. We always felt he was a player who might go on to progress from non-league football. As I say, he unfortunately went to QPR in March but the chance has now come up to take him for a month and we think it's a good move for both parties."

Hewitt is in contention to make his Dagenham debut in Saturday's League Two clash at home to Crewe.
