Franco Di Santo believes Wigan are a better side than they were last season and is confident they will soon be picking up points.
The Latics have endured a frustrating September, losing all four of their fixtures in all competitions.
They will be glad to see the back of a testing month this weekend when they travel to Aston Villa.
A trip to the Midlands will offer them another opportunity to address their recent slump and start climbing the Premier League standings.
Di Santo believes it is only a matter of time before their performances are rewarded, with the Argentine of the opinion that the Latics are a stronger unit than they were in 2010/11.
"We are playing a lot better this year definitely, maybe last year there was too much reliance on one or two players," he told the club's official website.
"Now we are a team, we are united and we want to win - hopefully we can turn the performances into victories now, starting against Aston Villa on Saturday."
Di Santo will be hoping to lead the charge at Villa Park, having made an eye-catching start to the campaign.
He has already netted three times this season and is confident there are plenty more goals to come.
"I have been very pleased with the goals I have scored up to now and I hope I can carry on from here," he said.
"I always try to do my best and sometimes you score, other games you don't - I just try and play the same in every game."
