Rangers manager Ally McCoist is delighted with the recent form of Maurice Edu and insists that he always had faith in the midfielder.
Edu's form has taken a surge towards the better in recent matches, as he displayed an impressive performance in their 4-2 victory over Celtic in the Old Firm derby, scored against Dunfermline in their 4-0 win at the weekend and was inspirational in their triumph over Kilmarnock on Tuesday.
And McCoist is overjoyed with the recent performances of the 25-year-old USA international and reiterates his confidence in him.
"I'm delighted with Maurice and I'm just pleased for him," he said. "There have been times when the form hasn't been great and he's been getting a little bit of criticism, as everybody does, when you sometimes warrant it and things aren't going well.
"I have said before that he will play his way out of it and keep going and he's got to keep doing that.
"He's that kind of player, he has to use his aggression and his athleticism and he is no mean footballer as well once he uses his first two attributes, which are very important to his game.
"The better qualified people to talk about Maurice Edu would be his team-mates because that's the type of player he is and they are all pleased for him."
Rangers are currently in pole position in the Scottish Premier League with 25 points from nine matches, seven clear of bitter rivals Celtic.
