Hibernian striker Garry O'Connor is to stand trial next year accused of possessing cocaine.
O'Connor, whose former clubs include Lokomotiv Moscow, Barnsley and Birmingham, denies possessing the class A drug at Hope Street Lane, Edinburgh, on May 14th this year.
The 28-year-old is also accused of resisting, obstructing and hindering two on-duty police officers who were trying to establish his details, as well as attempting to run away from them.
O'Connor did not appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today, but depute fiscal Iain Batho said a letter had been received on his behalf from defence solicitors Liam O'Donnell & Co, which confirmed his plea of not guilty.
His case is due to be called again on January 25th next year, before the trial the following month.
