Peterborough forward Lee Tomlin will undergo a scan on his injured ankle on Tuesday, with Darren Ferguson bracing himself for bad news.
Tomlin, 22, is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering suspected ligament damage during the npower Championship defeat to West Ham on Saturday.
Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He could be out for a while. He's got a scan on Tuesday which we'll get the results of maybe late Wednesday. But we expect him to be out for a while."
Meanwhile, Ferguson has no immediate plans to bring in a replacement for Ben Gordon, who has been recalled from his loan spell at London Road by Chelsea.
He added: "We've got the international break coming up it would be unwise to bring somebody in when we've got no games."
