On-loan Van Aanholt is desperate for his side's form to improve

Wigan's on-loan full-back Patrick van Aanholt says it is important the team kick-start a winning run against Aston Villa this weekend. The Latics fell to their third reverse of the season against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday - making it three league defeats on the trot. Van Aanholt, borrowed from Chelsea on a season-long deal, has played in their last three games, including the Carling Cup exit to Crystal Palace. Roberto Martinez's side avoided relegation by three points last season and are 15th after six games in the current campaign. They face fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers and Fulham in two of their next four games and will be hoping their form improves sooner rather than later.

Team player

The defender told the club's official website: "I'm a team player but I still need to get used to the team. "As I play more I'll get used to the team and after it will be fine. "We've just got to keep confident. It's going to be a great week for us to get together and improve as a team. "We need to go out next week against Villa and we've got to get three points we know we're capable of."
