Skysports.com understands Norwich defender Marc Tierney could be in line for a call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad.
Tierney's brother, Paul, represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level and now Marc could be set to break into the national team
The left-back has caught the attention of Republic scouts after impressing for Norwich upon their return to the Premier League this season.
Tierney has been an ever-present for Norwich this season and he has established himself as first choice in Paul Lambert's side.
Giovanni Trapattoni's assistant Marco Tardelli is believed to have watched Tierney in action in a couple of games this season and has reported back glowing reviews of the former Colchester man.
The Republic are short of options at left-back with Kevin Kilbane and Stephen Ward the two regulars in the squad and Trapattoni is expected to keep tabs on Tierney as he weighs up a call-up for the 26-year-old.
