Birmingham boss Chris Hughton believes Nikola Zigic can be a 'silver lining' for the team following his return from injury.
Zigic, who made his long-awaited return to action as a substitute in last week's Carling Cup defeat to Manchester City, helped Birmingham to a 1-1 draw with Barnsley on Saturday after also coming off the bench.
The giant Serbian is still searching for full fitness after groin and hip problems, but Hughton believes he can have a massive impact for Birmingham once he is fit.
"He hasn't started a game since the Wembley final, which means he has a lot of catching up to do," noted Hughton. "But suddenly Nikola is showing all the signs of being a massive silver lining this season."
Birmingham lost 11 first-team players during the summer following their relegation and Hughton admits Zigic would have left St Andrew's too if they had received the right offer.
He added: "I would be foolish to think that Zigic wouldn't have also gone if we had received the right offer."
