David Silva is confident Manchester City do not have to change their approach in order to beat Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

City have enjoyed an impressive start to the Premier League season and their free-flowing approach under Roberto Mancini is a stark contrast to last term.

Mancini now has a dazzling array of attacking talent to select from after adding Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri to his impressive list of options over the summer.

And, ahead of the test in the Allianz Arena against European heavyweights Bayern, in-form schemer Silva feels City should stick to their principles.

Confidence

"I think we can attack them like we do at home," said the Spain international.

"We can stick to our footballing principles. We don't have to change our style against other teams home or away.

"We believe in what we are doing and have confidence in each other so we will keep doing the same things.

"The truth is Napoli played very well against us. They are a strong team.

"But against Bayern we will try the same things - to keep the ball, play with the same style and get a positive result."

City opened their first Champions League campaign with a 1-1 home draw against Napoli a fortnight ago and must also face Spanish side Villarreal in the group phase.

Defeat at the hands of Bayern would make qualifying for the knockout stages a tougher task, but Silva is not looking beyond the trip to Germany.

He added: "First we have to focus on Bayern Munich.

"We need to go little by little, try to get a good result and then improve step-by-step and see how far we can go."
