Russian outfit could make second move for Milan midfielder

The agent of AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso claims Anzhi Makhachkala are still monitoring his client's situation. The ambitious Russian outfit expressed an interest in signing the World Cup winner over the summer, as they attempt to piece together a side capable of holding its own among the European heavyweights. They were left disappointed, as Gattuso opted to remain with the reigning Serie A champions, but they have not been put off. Anzhi are still hoping that they can lure the combative 33-year-old to Dagestan and may yet return with a fresh approach. Gattuso's representative expects there to be further developments, but he claims no decision has been taken regarding the future of his client.

Talks

"Anzhi were interested in signing him before and they still want him," Andrea D'Amico told Sportitalia. "There are no new developments at the moment though. "We will talk with Milan and see what happens. He's been an AC Milan player for quite a while now and we have always been able to agree terms. "We will soon talk to (Adriano) Galliani and find out what his plans are." Gattuso's current contract with Milan is set to run until the end of the 2011/12 campaign.
