Hull City have been handed a blow with the news that Andy Dawson faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury.

Tigers captain Dawson sustained a knee injury in training and Hull fear it could sideline the full-back for up to six weeks.

Dawson is set to undergo a scan on the problem to find out the full extent of the problem and Hull assistant manager Craig Shakespeare admitted it was a blow for the defender after he recently won his place back in the team.

"Andy Dawson has picked up an injury in training and he's going for a scan," Shakespeare told the Hull Daily Mail.

"The early signs are not very good, we're looking at four to six weeks.

"It's terrible news for the boy because he's been terrific since coming back into the team.

"We're gutted for him and for ourselves because it was just an innocuous challenge in training. Straight away after he struggled to walk."
