Daniel Agger admits the belief within the Liverpool squad is "miles apart" from what it was this time last season.
The Denmark international believes under Kenny Dalglish the team are brimming with confidence and they are a different group than the one under Roy Hodgson last season.
Agger was one of the more unhappy players under Hodgson's disappointing six-month tenure at the club and was forced to play out of position at left-back on more than one occasion
Hodgson was replaced by Dalglish last January and Agger admits the club have undergone a transformation under the Reds legend.
"I think it's a bit of everything but obviously the coaching staff are helping," Agger told the club's official website.
"If you look at the squad now, it looks really, really strong with so many good players so I think it is good for us to have the belief to go forward and win games.
"We definitely have that now and if you compare it to last season, I think we're miles apart."
