Wigan boss Roberto Martinez believes he can unlock the huge potential of new signing Shaun Maloney at the DW Stadium.
Scotland international Maloney joined Wigan from Celtic on a two-year deal on transfer deadline day last month.
Maloney has seen his progress for club and country blighted by a series of injuries over the last couple of years, but Martinez believes the 28-year-old is a unique talent who can thrive at Wigan if he is enjoying his football.
"The biggest aim we have got is that Shaun enjoys his football because in any moment of your career you have got good and bad experiences," Martinez told Sky Sports News.
Fantastic football brain
"What is important now is that Shaun is injury free. He's got a fantastic football brain, he's got great experience and I want him to enjoy his football in his most important years of his career.
"At 28 you have got that maturity about you, you have got enough experiences to look back and use them and then technically he is such a gifted player that he is going to give us a unique touch in our squad.
"If we can get Shaun to enjoy his football we are going to get a lot in the squad from him."
