Celtic captain Scott Brown is hopeful he will be fit for Thursday Europa League clash against Atletico Madrid.
Brown missed Saturday's win over Motherwell with an ankle injury and Celtic boss Neil Lennon has expressed his desire to have the midfielder available for the game in Madrid as well as this weekend's first Old Firm derby of the season.
The Scotland international admits he is 'touch and go' for the trip to the Vicente Calderon, but Brown hopes to be able to play against Atletico and Rangers ahead of a big week for the club.
Touch and go
"I'm getting very close to being fit," Brown said. "I'm touch and go for Thursday but I'll be fine for Sunday.
"I did it in the Scotland game (against Denmark) a few weeks ago and I've been playing with a tender ankle for the last couple of weeks and it has maybe just got the better of me the last few days.
"I'm desperate to get back in on Thursday. I will try training tomorrow or Wednesday and take it from there."
Celtic's trip to Madrid is dependent on Uefa throwing out Sion's appeal against their Europa League expulsion on Tuesday.
