Birmingham have rejected a transfer request from Liam Ridgewell ahead of Wednesday's deadline.
The defender slipped out of the Premier League with the Blues last season and is keen to return to that lofty level, or a similar stage.
Everton and Celtic have been linked with moves for the versatile defender this summer, but no agreement has been put in place.
Ridgewell has taken matters into his own hands and had hoped that a transfer request would help him to push through a move.
Birmingham, though, are reluctant to part with the 27-year-old and have turned down his request.
With the summer transfer window set to slam shut at 11pm on Wednesday, it remains to be seen where Ridgewell will be on 1st September.
