Bournemouth and Bradford in fight to sign Charlton striker

Skysports.com understands Bournemouth and Bradford City are battling it out to sign Charlton Athletic striker Paul Benson. The 31-year-old appears poised to leave The Valley before the close of the transfer window after Charlton accepted bids of £150,000 from four clubs. Benson is already understood to have turned down moves to Rotherham United and Luton Town after seeing a switch to Notts County collapse earlier in the summer. He now has the choice of joining Bournemouth or Bradford after only being on the fringes of Charlton boss Chris Powell's side so far this season. Bournemouth are in the market for a new forward after missing out on Adam Le Fondre and Charlie MacDonald, and have shown an interest in Bury's Ryan Lowe. Meanwhile, new Bradford boss Phil Parkinson has confirmed he has made an enquiry for Benson, who he signed for Charlton from Dagenham & Redbridge 12 months ago. Benson scored 10 goals during his debut season with the Addicks, but has made just one substitute's appearance in League One this term.
