Bayer Leverkusen director of sport Rudi Voller says Michael Ballack will not be prevented from leaving the club if he should request a move.
Ballack has been linked with Wolfsburg after spending another 90 minutes on the bench and Voller says he is not being held at Leverkusen against his will.
"Should he come to us, then of course we would be willing to talk to him, given our personal relationship," said Voller to Sport1 television.
"We would then sit down and find a satisfactory solution."
The German is unlikely to be happy spending most of his time on the Leverkusen bench but Voller may be unwilling to sever ties.
With the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League filling the calendar, Voller still believes Ballack has a place in the team.
"There are just players who are a bit stronger at the moment, he will just have to be patient" said Voller.
With a year left on his contract, the 34-year-old has made just 18 appearances for Leverkusen since arriving from Chelsea over a year ago.
