Skysports.com understands Jonathan Hogg is set to seal a move to Watford, penning a three-year deal in the process.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been on the books of Aston Villa since he was a teenager and made the breakthrough into their first-team set-up last season.

He made his Premier League debut against Manchester United in November 2010, putting in an assured display against Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

Hogg was handed a new contract by Villa shortly after making his top-flight bow, with the fresh terms tying him to the club until 2013.

He was, however, loaned out to Portsmouth in January, with Villa keen for him to get regular games.

A productive spell in the Championship allowed him to further enhance his reputation and there has been speculative interest from a number of sides this summer.

Watford appear to have won the race for his signature, and the Hornets expect to wrap up a deal in the next few days.
