Skysports.com understands West Ham have had a bid for in-form striker Sam Baldock rejected by MK Dons.
West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is keen to bring in a new forward before the close of the transfer window and he has targeted a move for Baldock.
Allardyce watched Baldock score a hat-trick against Chesterfield last weekend and he also scouted him during MK Dons' Carling Cup win at Norwich in midweek as the 22-year-old netted his sixth goal of the season.
The Hammers are believed to have offered £1.5million for Baldock, but MK Dons have rebuffed the bid as they try and keep hold of their prize asset.
West Ham are expected to come back with an improved bid for Baldock with Allardyce aware a number of other clubs are weighing up moves for the player.
