Ipswich boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that he has made an approach for West Brom defender Pablo Ibanez.
The Spanish centre-half linked up with the Baggies last summer and struggled to force his way into their side throughout his debut campaign.
With it apparent that he is no closer to holding down a regular role this term, there is a chance he will be allowed to move on.
Jewell is hoping West Brom will be prepared to discuss a deal, as he continues with his efforts to turn Ipswich into Championship promotion candidates.
He told his club's official website: "Ibanez is a target and we've spoken to West Brom about him as we would like to take him if he becomes available.
"Yet at the same time they don't want to let people go before they know that their squad is settled so we are going to have to be patient.
"I fully understand it, though, because if I was a Premier League manager I would want to see exactly how my squad is before selling, so it may be a case of waiting and seeing if something can happen after the window."
