Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson has not ruled out bringing in another player on loan if Kevin McDonald is out long-term.
Wilson is waiting to discover the full extent of the injury sustained by the former Burnley midfielder in Tuesday night's win over Walsall.
Wilson said: "Kevin McDonald took a knock 10 minutes before half-time on Tuesday, but we don't know the extent of the injury at the moment. It's an ankle problem which we will assess.
"It's been fairly quiet in the last week or so. I'm still looking to bring players in, but that's always been the case.
"We want to stop people speculating and get on with the players we have at the club. We have to concentrate on the lads here and expect them to stay. If not then we will change the strategy."
