Fiorentina have signed midfielder Houssine Kharja and hope to agree a new deal with Stevan Jovetic.

Striker Jovetic also hopes to sign a new deal

Fiorentina have signed Genoa midfielder Houssine Kharja and are hoping to agree a new contract with star youngster Stevan Jovetic. Kharja joins in a co-ownership deal and has signed a two-year contract with the option of a third year. The 28-year-old was on loan at Inter Milan for the latter stages of last season with a view to a permanent deal which did not materialise. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Jovetic is closing in on a new deal at Fiorentina with speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea.

Very happy

He said: "I'm very happy in Florence, my agent has spoken with the club about my contract and we are ready to begin talks. "There have been some steps forward to renew my contract and I hope there won't be any problems. "There will be news in the next few weeks." There are also rumours of a move away for Fiorentina and Italy striker Alberto Gilardino but Jovetic wants him to stay at the club. He said: "He is a great player and I hope he remains, but I have not talked with him about transfer issues".
