Bradford midfielder David Syers could miss three months after scans confirmed partial tears in two right knee ligaments.
The club confirmed on Tuesday morning that the midfielder will be out for around 10 to 12 weeks which means the 23-year-old could miss up to 15 games for his club while he fully recovers.
Syers picked up the injury in the 3-2 League Cup defeat to Leeds.
Bradford manager Peter Jackson spoke of his disappointment at losing Syers to the club's official website: "I though Dave was having one of his best games since I've been at the club before the injury struck so he is definitely going to be a loss to us."
Midfielder Lee Bullock will also spend a month on the sidelines with a small tear around his hip.
