Celtic's in-form striker Anthony Stokes is delighted has had hit the ground running this season.

The former Hibernian marksman made it three goals in three SPL starts this term after scoring against Dundee United on Saturday.

The Bhoys ran riot against The Tangerines after running out 5-1 winners, maintaining their 100 per cent start to the campaign in the process.

Celtic tackle Sion on Thursday in their Europa League play-off first-leg clash and Stokes insists confidence is high.

Good start

"It's a good start to the season," said the Irishman.

"The most important thing was that we got nine points from three games and for me personally it has been going well.

"Scoring five goals and playing well gives confidence a boost, and we are optimistic about it (Sion game).

"We want to go on a good run in Europe and nine points from three games is the best way to be going in to the game.

"But it is not always going to be like that (yesterday). You've seen that at Aberdeen last week, they were hard to break down.

"And we left ourselves a bit open at times (against United) but we took our chances well."
