Bury have placed a 'not for sale' sign on Damien Mozika after an unnamed club bid for the midfielder.
The offer was the second this summer the newly-promoted Shakers have fielded for the talented 24-year-old Frenchman.
Bury have confirmed Thursday's enquiry, however, they told the unnamed club that Mozika is not available for transfer.
However, the Gigg Lane club have stated they will not stand in the midfielder's way if a team from a higher division comes knocking.
"Brian (Fenton) had a phone call from another chairman asking what the situation was regarding Damien," Barker told the club's official website.
"Our chairman has told their chairman that he is not for sale, to which the other chairman said 'thank you very much, we will move to another target'.
"One thing that I have promised Damien is that if there is ever an opportunity for him to go and play at a higher level, then we would make sure that he is at least aware of it, but seeing as it wasn't at a higher level there is nothing that needs entertaining, the episode is finished as far as I am concerned."
