Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has revealed he is an admirer of Fiorentina winger Alessio Cerci.
Mancini feels he needs to bring in further reinforcements before the transfer window shuts as City prepare for an assault on the UEFA Champions League as well as the start of the domestic campaign.
He has identified highly-rated 24-year-old Cerci as a possible target, although it is by no means certain he will make an official approach.
"He is a good, young player, who could be an option," said Mancini.
"But there are other players. We need some for the Champions League and others to complete our squad for the Premier League."
Mancini also hinted that Shaun Wright-Phillips could yet have a future at the Etihad Stadium after impressing in pre-season.
Craig Bellamy and Emmanuel Adebayor fall into the category of players who look set to leave after falling down the pecking order, but Mancini regards Wright-Phillips differently to his other disgruntled squad men.
He explained: "Shaun is a different situation.
"I have some good players, who deserve to play but it is not possible for them here. I hope they find a solution.
"But Shaun is a very good guy who did well for us in pre-season."
