Ignasi Miquel won the European Under-19 Championship with Spain and now wants to be an Arsenal regular.

Spain Under-19 international focused on Gunners' first-team

Arsenal's Ignasi Miquel won the European Under-19 Championship with Spain this summer - and is now targeting a place in his club's first-team. The 18-year-old played in every match of the competition for Spain which was held in Romania and now wants to build on that success. Arsene Wenger also took note of his performances during the competition and promoted the defender to the senior squad for last Saturday's friendly against Benfica. Miquel made his debut for the Gunners against Leyton Orient last term but now wants to build on the progress he displayed with his national team during the summer.

Confident

"Coming back from winning it is really big and I am coming back confident, he told the club's official website. "Winning the European Cup and being called up for the first-team without training with them - I am really happy. I go back now trying to improve myself to become better. "The boss has said congratulations to me but now I have to forget about it and focus on Arsenal. "I obviously want to get more minutes with the first-team. I know it's going to be hard but I'm going to fight for it."
