Skysports.com understands Southend striker Matt Paterson is to join Hamilton on a season-long loan deal.
The 21-year-old has been at Roots Hall since January 2010, having started his professional career with Southampton.
He spent time on loan at Stockport last season and is now believed to be on the brink of another temporary switch.
Hamilton are looking to finalise a deal for Paterson as they strive to bounce back to the SPL at the first attempt following last season's relegation.
The season-long arrangement would allow Paterson to continue his development and bolster Accies manager Billy Reid's attacking options.
