Rangers target Roland Juhasz hopes a fee can be agreed in time for the UEFA Europa League registration deadline.
The 28-year-old Hungarian defender is on Ally McCoist's wish-list but current club Anderlecht are said to want €5million (£4.4m) for his services.
Juhasz would like to move to Glasgow and hopes a deal can be done in time to meet the Europa League registration deadline of 11pm on Monday evening.
He told www.origo.hu: "I can feel that Rangers want me very much, the two clubs' standpoints are now not far off each other.
"I hope they will agree by Monday. I would like to sign to another club because I need a new challenge after my six years at Anderlecht."
Juhasz added he would like to sign a three or four year contract for McCoist's side - and he would also like to play in England in future.
"Money is not important for me. If money was the motivation then I could've signed to another club but then my international career would be over," he added.
"At the age of 28 the most important thing for me is to play in the national team and to play in a club which fights for the championship title.
"But my next station won't be my final station. In the future I could also sign to a club in England which is an easier task from Glasgow than from Brussels."
