Wigan's Mauro Boselli has returned to his former club Estudiantes in Argentina on a one-year loan deal.
The 26-year-old struggled to make an impact in the Premier League last year and failed to score in eight appearances.
His only goal for the Latics came in a Carling Cup victory over Swansea before he was loaned out to Serie A club Genoa for the second half of last term.
But Roberto Martinez feels a move back to his homeland could reinvigorate his confidence and killer touch in front of goal.
"Mauro needs to regain his confidence and after what will hopefully be a successful season with his former club, we will assess the situation this time around," he told the club's official website.
"We will be keeping close tabs on his progress and wish him every success for the new season."
