Birmingham City manager Chris Hughton has refuted speculation that captain Stephen Carr could leave the club this summer.

The veteran defender has been linked with a move to the likes of Wolves, Stoke and Queens Park Rangers during the close season following Blues' relegation.

However, ex-Newcastle man Hughton insists the 34-year-old stopper will not be leaving St Andrews this summer.

"There's speculation about lots of players, but as for him, absolutely not, he's the club captain," he told the Express & Star.

Meanwhile, Hughton has not given up hope that the club could land former Wolves man David Jones, despite Wigan's desire to land the midfielder.

"He's a player we've spoken to, but as with all players, wait and see," he continued. "They have to look at the options they've got."
