Skysports.com understands an unnamed club have made a bid for Peterborough United winger George Boyd.
The 25-year-old has been an influential performer for Peterborough over the past four-and-a-half years and was a target for Blackpool in the January transfer window.
Peterborough director of football Barry Fry revealed at the end of last season the club would be prepared to let Boyd leave London Road for the right price.
The Posh's resolve now appears set to be tested after a bid was made for Boyd, with Burnley understood to be keen on the former Stevenage attacker.
Burnley are on the look-out for a new wide player after selling Chris Eagles to Bolton Wanderers and Clarets boss Eddie Howe confirmed he is hoping to make progress in the transfer market before the start of the new season.
"We are actively looking and hopefully we will be active early next week and bring some new players in, because we are very thin on the ground in terms of numbers," said Howe after Saturday's friendly win over Sunderland.
"We have lost seven and brought two in, so hopefully we can add to the ins next week."
