Atletico Madrid are closing in on a deal to sign Wolfsburg playmaker Diego, with the Brazilian keen to move to Spain.
Diego only joined Wolfsburg from Juventus last summer, but he has fallen out with the club's management and is now set to quit the club.
A transfer in the region of €10million (£8.8m) is in the pipeline and the player's father and agent Djair Ribas da Cunha is hopeful a deal will be struck soon.
"The only thing left is for Wolfsburg and Atletico to reach an agreement," da Cunha told As. "He really wants to sign for the Madrid club.
"Atletico will benefit from him a lot. He has quality and thinks he will fit in well to the system under (Gregorio) Manzano (the Atletico manager)
"We have time until the end of August. We would like it (the transfer) to be soon although that doesn't depend on us."
Atletico have money to spend after selling Argentine striker Sergio Aguero to Manchester City and goalkeeper David de Gea to Manchester United.
