Barnsley boss Keith Hill has been impressed by Ricardo Vaz Te, but admits the forward needs to cut out the showboating.

The former Bolton striker is currently on trial with the Tykes as he looks for a new club.

He did his cause no harm on Saturday as he produced a spectacular strike in a 5-1 friendly victory over Grimsby.

Vaz Te's performance for the large part suggested there is every chance that he will be offered a contract by Barnsley.

Ability

There was, however, one occasion where a Mario Balotelli-esque back-heel left his prospective new boss bemused.

Hill has hinted that he is still willing to take a gamble on the 24-year-old, but has warned Vaz Te that he must resist the urge to indulge in pointless trickery.

He said: "He has all the ability, but it's a juggling act.

"The back-heel for no purpose that doesn't come off does not go down well with me."
