Reigning Scottish Premier League champions Rangers have rejected a bid from Qatari outfit Lekwhiya for Madjid Bougherra.
The Algeria international centre-half is regarded as one of the finest defenders in Scottish football, having shone during his three years at Ibrox.
Each passing transfer window brings fresh speculation regarding his future, with the former Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton man often linked with a return to England.
He has, however, been drawing attention from further afield of late, with Lekwhiya keen to take him to the Middle East.
Rangers, though, have no plans to part with the 28-year-old, as he remains an integral part of their first-team plans.
McCoist does not expect that stance to alter any time soon, with the club having signalled their intention by knocking back an approach.
He said: "I hope Madjid's future lies here, but there has been a bid received which we have knocked back from a team in Qatar. That's where we are at the moment.
"I don't want Madjid going anywhere."
