Ghanaian defender becomes Eriksson's latest summer signing

John Pantsil has become Leicester's eighth signing of the summer, penning a three-year contract in the process. The Ghana international has been snapped up as a free agent following his release by Fulham. Sven-Goran Eriksson first made a move for the 30-year-old at the end of June, but no deal could be agreed. Whatever issues arose at that time have since been ironed out, and Pantsil is looking forward to joining an ambitious side who have their sights set firmly on the Premier League.

Challenge

"I see this as the biggest challenge of my career so far and, together with my new team-mates, we will fight to make Leicester City climb to the top," Pantsil, who has also represented West Ham during his time in England, told Ghanasoccernet. "I visited the club on Wednesday, met the coach and some of the club officials and I am very happy with what I saw." He added: "The club has got a lot of ambition to succeed at a high level with their fantastic fans and that is why I chose to join them despite some other offers. "The fact that they have coach Eriksson also says a lot about the ambitions of the club and I am obviously delighted to join in this noble cause."
