Manager Les Parry is to add a touch of Brazilian flair to Tranmere's ranks with the signing of striker Vinni Dantas.
The 20-year-old, who originates from Sao Paulo, has been on a short trial at Prenton Park - scoring twice in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Shrewsbury last week - and Parry is now hoping Rovers are able to secure a work permit.
"Hopefully Vinni will sign on Monday, that will be subject to a work permit," Parry told the club's official website. "That will be a great signing. Vinni is potentially a great player, but it is potential. We need to get someone more established too."
Meanwhile, Parry has also cleared up his interest in Bury striker Ryan Lowe, adding: "The truth of the matter is that I admire Ryan as a player and I heard Stockport had had a bid turned down for him.
"I phoned Bury to see whether he was available but the price they wanted was way above what we could afford so it didn't go any further. I didn't make an offer and I've had no further contact.
"If the situation changes I'd be only too willing to try to come to some sort of arrangement with Bury. As it stands we're looking elsewhere."
