Giuseppe Rossi's agent claims Juventus remain locked in transfer discussions regarding his client.
The Italy international is currently on the books of Villarreal, but has been generating intense speculation for some time.
Reports linking him with a return to his homeland have been doing the rounds, with Juve having identified him as a top target early on in the summer.
The Serie A giants have also been monitoring Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero and Manchester City's Carlos Tevez, but appear to be closing on a deal for Rossi.
That is the view of the 24-year-old's agent, who has revealed that talks with the Turin-based giants are ongoing.
"Juventus and Villarreal are negotiating," Federico Pastorello told Tuttosport.
"We are optimistic. It's a positive sign that the two clubs are negotiating.
"We hope that the deal will be completed soon.
"It's clear that we are talking about an important player and Juventus are pushing strongly (for the deal to be done) while Rossi would be delighted to move there."
The former Manchester United striker has a £33million buy-out clause in his contract.
Rossi, who is under contract with Villarreal under 2016, is also reported to be a top target for reigning Primera Liga and European champions Barcelona.
