Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill has axed trialist striker Mustafa Tiryaki but will continue to assess Dominic Green and Stephen Brogan.
The latter pair are likely to feature in the Iron's next friendly, away at Halifax Town on Saturday.
Tiryaki played in two friendlies after he decided to leave Havant and Waterlooville, while midfielder Green had been released by Peterborough and full-back Brogan recently left Rotherham.
Knill told Iron Player: "Tiryaki has gone back. He did really well but we just felt that he isn't any different to what we've got.
"Dominic Green will play on Saturday. I've been impressed by him so we'll give him a run-out at Halifax and then make a decision based on that.
"Stephen Brogan is still here too. I know he's a really good footballer so we'll just have to wait and see."
